Kylie's 9 Month Doc Appointment

We had to wait a little while to see the Doc today - but Kylie was in a great mood. The only time she fussed was when she needed her bottle - and who could blame her for that?

As no surprise to anyone - Doctor B pronounces Kylie as "Perfect - very advanced!" Doctor B said that Kylie used her hands in an advanced fashion (holding a tongue depressor - how can you tell???) and that she is interacting very well and picking up on social cues (like us adults laughing). Kylie now likes to drop things to see if someone will pick them up (over and over again) and she hates it when Hugh or I leave the room. I guess these are all great developmental milestones.

Kylie is 27.5 inches long (50th%), she weighs 18lbs, 12 oz (50th%) and her head is 45cm in circumfrance (95%)! Wow - She has a "double yellow" in that big head of hers too (just like her brother).

Kylie is 9 months old

Wow! Time is flying. Kylie is 9 months old and is just precious. Kylie has a sweet little personality. She seems to always be smiling, even when her loving big sister Kate is "hugging" (read: smothering) her. She still has blue eyes - so MAYBE I have a chance for one of the kids to have my color eyes vs. Hugh's. I see her light brown hair may starting to have curls - but time will tell.

Kylie is now crawling FAST all over the house - and seems to find me no matter what room I escaped to. With all of that crawling and sitting up, her bald spot on the back of her head is fully grown in. Today - she even pulled all the way up to her feet (vs up to her knees). Before you know it - she'll be cruising and walking. Thank goodness that the house is child-proofed already. I seem to remember that being a lot of work last time!

She is still napping twice a day, but it's hard for her to take her morning nap. When she realizes that Kate and Connor are still awake - she doesn't want to go down at all. She has her bottle 4 times a day (7:30am, 11:30am, 3:30pm and 7pm) - but she's also eating a ton of "real food too". She now has 8 teeth (4 upper and 4 lower). I've been making homemade baby food again - so she loves peaches, pears, applesauce, peas, green beans - and of course - CHEERIOS.

Kylie is 8 months old

Kylie is 8 months old now. I must have waited till too late tonight to take her "monthly birthday" pictures - because it was soooo hard to get a smile out of this little tyke.

Kylie is doing great. She loves music and loves flapping her legs (wildly) up and down to the beat of music. I might just end up calling her thumper! We've had to drop the mattress int he crib down quite a bit since she is moving around a lot more.

She has a few favorite toys - but it's hard to keep Kate or Connor from stealing them from her. I typically try to keep her most prized toys in the crib with her when she is awake (so they can't be confiscated by a fast two and a half year old). Kylie loves her stuffed bunny, her stuffed little lamb, and especially an old car that the twins had that plays the song "Won't You Take Me to Funky Town?" (by the band Lipps if you must know).

Bit still, the biggest entertainment for Kylie is bouncing her on your knee and singing "Here comes Kylie riding in to town, here comes Kylie don't fall down, here comes Kylie riding in to town, here comes Kylie - - OOPS - - fall down." A close second is the Noble Duke of York song. But truly - she just loves being held and snuggled.

Mother's Day

Today was a nice simple day. Church with family, lunch, a nice nap (especially for Mommy) and dinner. but of course, the best part is the baby love and kisses!

Kylie is 7 months old

Kylie is 7 months old now and finally sitting up on her own. That makes her so much happier - as now she can see everything going on - rather than just staring at the ceiling all day long! She hasn't really tried to crawl yet - but I think she is getting close.

I can see that she looks more and more like Connor did at this age. She has his shaped eyes and his coloring. Wonder if she'll get his hair? All I know is that for now, Kylie has a bald spot on the back of her head from lying down these fast few months. Can't wait for that to go away.

She is wearing size 3 diapers and she eats and sleeps really well. She has 6 teeth and they are SHARP if you get in her way.

We are blessed indeed!

Easter Morning and Another New Food

This morning - Kylie tried mashed bananas. I figured while the kids were eating Easter treats, Kylie should have something fun too. She LOVED it and actually coo'd over the banana. Fun!

Meanwhile, the kids had great fun with their baskets. We waited until after breakfast was finished, since we realized that they would probably only be eating "junk" the rest of the day (and we were right).

Yes - there was some candy. We HAD to have a chocolate Easter bunny so they could learn to bite the ears off first. But beyond that, we had animal crackers inside the eggs, and some jelly beans for sweets.

The Easter bunny also threw in some special socks (Dora for Kate, Spider Man for Connor), some sunglasses, some books and some stickers. Lot's of fun for the twins too.

Kylie's 6 Month Checkup

I just love going to see Doctor B. She has a wonderful way of being so sweet with the babies, and so supportive of mom and Dad too. She confirmed yet again that Kylie is simply perfect and that her parents have the perfect recipe for raising children. How kiss up is that? Regardless - I'll take it.

Kylie is now 26 inches long (70%) and 16 lbs, 2 oz (60%). So - she is growing nicely along the growth curves.

She also now has 2 more top teeth coming through - for a total of 6 teeth. I guess that's why Kate calls her a bunny rabbit (because of her big top 2 teeth),

Kylie rolled over from front to back today

After much waiting and hoping, Kylie finally rolled over from her tummy to her back today. She's been rolling over from her back to her tummy for the past month - but gets frustrated when she gets "stuck". I'm hoping this new skill will help her be an even happier little pun'kin. Next up - learning to sit up.

Our Angel came to see us today

Angel - from Angel Art Photography - came today to take Kylie's 6 month pictures, as well as some updated shots of the twins. She did a beautiful job and has so much patience!

I can't wait to see all the pics she took - but she has sent 2 pictures as a "teaser." Aren't they cute??? Of course I think so!!!

A new food

Kylie is over the worst of her cold, so her appetite is back. Tonight, we added prunes to her repertoire. She loved them! A little messy for her to eat - but big grins all the way around.

Kylie is still sick

Kylie went to the Doc last week. She's had a tough time breathing and had an ear ache, so we had to bring her back for a follow up. Good news is that Doc B thinks she is on the mend and just recommends that we keeping using the nebulizer on her for 1 more week and finish up the antibiotic given to her from last appointment.
So sad to see her struggle to catch her breath without wheezing or coughing :-)

Kylie is 6 months old

Kylie is 6 months old and she's doing great! She loves her big brother and she especially loves her big sister. If Kate walks in the room - Kylie's eyes are sure to follow. Maybe it's for love - or maybe it's for self-preservation. Kate has a way of wanting to give her BIG hugs (such that she might squeeze the breath out of Kylie). We supervise closely!

Kylie is taking four 7 oz bottles a day, and cereal at breakfast and dinner too. I love how she now can guide the bottle to her mouth when she is hungry, and bat it away when she's full. She's taking 3 naps throughout the day (late morning for an hour, the afternoon for 2 hours, and early evening for an hour).

She loves being at the table with everyone - I think she's going to be a very social young lady. Kylie is glad to hang out in her crib waiting for you to come get her - but she is even happier when someone (anyone!) is holding her.

Kylie isn't too mobile yet - but loves playing with her toys. She loves the same musical fish that Kate loved and she enjoys Sofie the Giraffe and any rattle that she can pick up.

I'm grateful to see Kylie well past her colic days and to watch her grow in to a happy little baby.

Davis' come to dinner

We had a nice family dinner tonight with Aunt Shirley, Uncle Michael and cousins Kevin and Lauren coming to visit.

We grilled out and hung out. The gorgeous weather made it easy to be on the patio and spend time together. NICE!

So Long, Not Farewell

I know we've known for several years now - but somehow it still doesn't seem quite real. Aunt Anne and Uncle Patrick are moving to Washington State. Tonight was the night to get the family together and to say "so long."

We loved visiting with Aunt Ruth and Cousin David. Aunt Ruth read so many cool books to the twins - even some that were once David's (many moons ag0).

Aunt Martha and Uncle Tom were there to enjoy time together. Uncle Tom can be quite the ham (and the kids ate it up!). Aunt Martha shared her love for shopping by giving each of the kids a new stuffed bear. Awesome gift that will be enjoyed for sure!

And Mom and Dad had a great time too. It was nice to get out and visit - but a bittersweet occasion to be celebrating.

Somehow in all of the excitement - we have pictures of EVERYONE except Anne and Patrick!

All is I want for Christmas...

...is my two front teeth. Kylie got her TOP 2 front teeth this week. Now she's got 4 teeth total - and I can feel some others under the gum line trying to come in.

Aunt Anne and Uncle Patrick Visit

What a gorgeous day we had today. After a taste of Spring a few weeks ago - it looks like Spring is here for good.

Anne and Patrick came for an afternoon visit. We were able to enjoy the covered patio and have the twins play with their new books/stickers that Aunt Anne brought with her.

Kylie was in her normal great mood - smiling for all of us to see her precious little personality. Kate and Connor ran around playing with books and sticks and chalk.

Hugh got home from his tennis practice and joined us on the patio. The kids just loved jumping in his lap and being tickled and loved on.

All in all - a terrific day at the O'Farrell home!

Kylie's First Tooth

Today, Kylie's first tooth broke through this morning. It's on the bottom right and you can barely see it. No wonder she has been drooling so much recently. She's just like big brother Connor and his drooling when he was teething.

How about....?

At breakfast, Tracy asked the kids "How about... some oatmeal?". Kate in her perky little way said - "How about... NO."

What do we do with her?

Kylie Starting Eating Real Food

Kylie seems to be getting hungry between meals - so it occurred to me that we hadn't started her on solid foods yet. After looking back on what we did with the twins - it looks like we had already started them by now on cereal.

So - for dinner, Kylie got mixed cereal. It took me a little while to realize that she was actually supposed to get plain rice cereal (so you only add one grain at a time to make sure she doesn't have any allergies). Oh well - the twins didn't have any allergies, so I'm guessing Kylie won't either. More than guessing - HOPING.

Kylie is 5 month old!

Kylie turned 5 months old today. She's now in size 3 diapers. We have bottles 5 times a day, and will be adding cereal in soon too. Kylie wears mostly 3 - 6 month outfits - and I love that so many of them were Kate's. It's sweet to see those hand-me-downs(although I'm sure she won't appreciate it much when she becomes a teenager).

Kylie is her own little happy person. She just loves being with people and waves her arms to any music that she hears. She now only cries of she hungry or tired, and who can blame a girl for that? Her eyes are still blue - but don't know if they'll stay that way. Kylie's hair is fairly dark, and she has a long dark swirl int he back just like Kate had. She reminds me a lot of Kate. Check out the pic from when Kate and Connor turned 5 months old. What do you think??? Maybe some of each?

Milestones:
Kylie just now started rolling over from her back to her tummy, but hasn't figured out yet how to roll over the other direction. Just a matter of time. She loves sitting up in her bouncer so she can look around the room and see where everyone is.

Isn't she lovely

The twins have had a bit of a cold this week. For Kate, it's been a little worse with a tummy bug to boot. At breakfast she had her head in her hands, which looked so sad. That's when she got sick again.

Well - most everything had to go in to the laundry, including our ubiquitous "pink" (her favorite stuffed animal for about a year now). When pink came out of the dryer - Kate said that she loved "lovely"! That's a first time hearing her say that.

Posing

I just thought I'd pose Kylie for the camera and take some snaps today. I seem to remember doing this A LOT more with the twins at this age (but now I have 2 toddlers to chase and try to keep up with). Sorry Kylie. I know understand why there are so few pics of me as the 5th child!

I love this little pink / fuchsia outfit that a friend gave us. It's nice to be able to see Kylie in the same things that Kate wore. So - here are a couple.

Now - here are Kate and Connor at the same age....

So - do you think she looks like Kate or Connor at all??? Or is she just Kylie?
