Our first Gingerbread House

We made our first gingerbread house today. In my younger days, I actually baked the gingerbread, assembled the house and then bought candies to decorate it. Now that we actually have kids, that seemed like too much effort - so I went from "making it" to "making it possible." The kids didn't seem to notice the difference. Actually, I "made it possible" as I cursed at the runny icing while Connor and Kate slept peacefully. I'm sure they were dreaming about gingerbread. Ha!

Well - I hope this is the start of an annual tradition. Just maybe next year the twins will be awake for the occasion.

Grandma picks up Noisey

After being in Savannah, Ga for her brother's funeral, Grandma come back to pick up Nosiey and visit for the night. Of course, that gets her extra time holding and loving on her newest grandbabies (which she never tires of).

Aunt Shirley also visits at lunch time, bringing Souper Jenny. Yum! Too bad the twins are eating FORMULA again. No Soup for you!!!

Portia visits with us

It was so nice of Portia Carter to come by at lunch today. Portia is a friend and neighbor who also has boy and girl twins - Marlee and Maddox. Marlee and Maddox are 1 year old now - so Portia certainly has "been there, done that."

She also visited us early on at the hospital with some fabulous newborn sleep and play outfits for the twins. She said her twins lived in them for the first month - and she was right. These were the cutest outfits and kept the babies toasty warm.

Now i just have to heed Portia's advice - accpt help when offered!!!

Bath time

I'm finally getting the hang of bathing Connor and Kate. Nanna taught me while she was here, and Aunt Shirley said it was the same technique that Nanna taught her in bathing Kevin and Lauren.

While the babies squawk while I lather up their little bodies, they actually seem to like getting in the water to rinse off. Thank goodness for the the precious bath towels with hoods that we received during the baby showers. It sure keeps the twins warm after I wash their hair but while they are getting lathered up.

Could there be any better smell than the smell of a freshly bathed baby??? I wish this blog had smell-o-blogging!

Meredith visits / Kate goes shopping

Meredith came to meet us today at lunch. She wore such a pretty outfit - mom was sure hoping that the twins wouldn't spit up on her. We were able to go the whole visit without spitting up - so we think Meredith may like us!

I took Kate to the back Publix today. Her first grocery store outing! I bundled Kate up so she'd stay warm. It's only around 50 degrees outside today. If course, she loved the car ride more than shopping!

It was nice that Hugh and I split up the twins so we could each have some 1-1 time. He stayed home with Connor and they did tummy time (supposedly good for his torticollis). He starts Physical Therapy December 9th.

We keep growing...

Today, both Kate and Connor are now big enough to be wearing size 1 diapers. They have officially outgrown the newborn size. Now what to do with all of these leftover newborn diapers???

One month check up

Hi there! Connor here sending you an update on my little sis and my 1 month check up Doctor's appointment. Actually we're 5 weeks old today, but only 2 weeks past out due date of November 17th.

Kaitlyn was her usual self at the Docs. She fussed and tried to take the limelight away from me. She is up to 9lbs 13oz and is 20 1/4inches long. Doc says that means she's at the 75th percentile in weight.

Doc inquired if maybe she should try a lactose free diet for her to stop some of that racket she makes at night. Such a young age of a girl to already be on a "diet!". We'll see if Mom and Dad agree or think if we should just keep on with the Mylicon drops and the same tucker that I get. Doctor Beckford also said she's not worried about Kate's eyes not quite tracking together yet. She told Mommy and Daddy that we're just learning to focus and it's only a problem if she still does that at 2 months.

Dr. Beckford must be a smart lady - as she immediately recognized how well I'm doing. As the big brother, I enchanted her -- I quietly gazed at her sweetly as she examined me. See the attached picture of us (and notice how Doc B likes me more). She noticed that I could hold my head up steady at a 45 degree angle. I'm now 11 lbs and 2oz. Dr B thinks my neck fat rolls are "lovely" for this age. I'm now 90th percentile for my weight and I'm 21 inches long.

Turns out I'm more like my Daddy than in just looks. I need a little physical therapy too. When I was crammed inside Mommy's tummy, I must have crained my neck to the right side (hey, Kate took up a lot of space in there!). Now, one side of my neck is stronger than the other and I need a few exercises to help strengthen the other side. No big deal. I have to go see a nice lady a few times and then Mom and Dad can do the exercises with me back at home.

We already miss the night feedings with Nanna and Poppa (or is that my Mom talking?) Since they had to go back to Miami yesterday. Good news is that Grandma is visiting today - so we're getting extra TLC.

Hope everyone enjoyed visiting with us at Thanksgiving. We hope Uncle Tom is feeling better now cuz we sure missed him. It was a great surprise to meet Aunt Roxie and Uncle Ross this week - all the way from Canada. And we're glad Uncle Chris made the drive to meet us. Uncle Patrick was a new face - he seems to like holding us too!

We can't wait to see Aunt Anne-Maree at Christmas. We'll both be ready to smile by then!

Much love -
Connor
(As told to his dear Mom)
