Twisn go to the Dentist

Another first today! Kate and Connor had their first dental visit. Dr. Taylor was perfect with them.
The appointment was more about playing with the toys, and "oh by the way - can you sit in the big chair?" "By the way, can you say ahh? Here's another toy to play with." Kate especially liked the stuffed penguin.

Kylie Rolled Over

I went in to get Kylie up from her afternoon nap. She was crying and fussing up a storm - so I was worried that something was wrong with her. Nope! She has just rolled over on to her tummy and was frustrated that she couldn't roll back. A
Milestone for sure! Can't wait for her to figure out how to roll over on both sides.

Hanging out at breakfast

These kids are such characters. Sometimes not much is going on - but I want to savor every minute. We were just playing at breakfast. Kate was giving Kylie BIG HUGS (a little too big for my comfort).

Connor was running around saying "Batman!, while Kate ran around and yelled "monkey feet, monkey feet" (her PJs have monkeys on the feet). Ah, the peace and quiet (not!) of our lives.

Connor is perfect!

We got back the EKG results today and Connor is just perfect! Amen. We don't know why he was having seizures, but he hasn't had one since. Today, we start weaning him off the medicine that they had put him on. Life is good!

It's a Zoo!

It's kind of a zoo at our house, but we thought we'd head out to the REAL zoo.
It's finally warming up to the 50s, and we are all a little stir crazy inside the house for the Winter. Fortunately, Cousin Lauren was able to join us while Dad and Kylie stayed at home.




We started out seeing some flamingos and meerkets, but quickly got to see our favorites - the lions and the elephants and the zebras. Kate and Connor thought the picture cutouts of the animals (where you put in your head) where pretty funny - and I loved the photo opp.




We were in the middle of kid heaven - strollers, parents and toddlers everywhere. The one thing that the kids really wanted to see were the Pandas. I don't know if they remember them from last year, or if they just remember them from our books - but either way - they loved seeing them.

After some lunch we went to the petting zoo. While the kids loved seeing the pigs and goats and lambs - they refused to touch any of them this time. Can't say I blame them. The whole place stunk of - well - animals!

Before we could head out, we had to take a ride on the train. While it is a SLOW ride and silly - the kids loves hearing the train blow it's horn and going through the dark tunnels at the Zoo. What a great way to wrap up our visit.

Connor gets checked out

We finally were able to get the EEG done today to see what, if anything, might be causing Connor's issues. We were instructed to make sure that he was sleep deprived before the appointment - so you can only imagine how fun a tired, cranky 2 year old with little sleep can be. Oh well, Connor was a good sport and trotted off to the Doc like the little lamb that he is. Having his paci and lovie helped immensely.



He started to fuss when the technician started to placing the 21 electrodes on his head - but she quickly figured out the magic. She whipped out a portable DVD player and a Dora DVD. Problems all solved. I think she's done this once or twice before! Connor was mesmerized and settled in like a trouper for the 25 minutes that the test needed to run.


I don't know anything about EEGs, but doesn't that graph look good to you? Time will tell - we get the official results on Monday.

Kylie's 4 Month check up

Today was Kylie's 4 month check up with Doctor B. Doc B's new office is much bigger than the old office, and they had only been there for 2 days - so things were running a little late. It turns out that Little Missy doesn't like to be kept waiting by anyone - so she was quite upset while we waited (and waited). Dad did all he could to keep her calm.

Eventually we settled in and got to see how Kylie was doing on her diet. It turns out that while she looks "cherubic" to me, so is actually back on track with her weight. She is now 24.5 inches long (60%), weighs 15 lb. 2oz (50%) and has a head circumference of 42cm(80%). In other words - perfect! Kylie is now off the "wold's most expensive formula" and is used to just a fussy baby formula. Amen for the savings - it's only about a third of the cost. We were able to do that since her colic ceased right at 13 weeks. Can I have another AMEN!


Doc B has a lovely bedside manner and told us that we have the "perfect recipe" for beautiful, confident children. I suspect she says it to every parent - but some how it seems so sincere when she says it to us.

Kylie's eyes are still a beautiful blue - just like Connor's were at 4 months. She drools just like him, and has sweaty feet just like him too. In other words - she's her brother's sibling for sure!



Kylie is on a terrific schedule these days. She wakes up at 7:30 in the morning for a bottle and has a 2 hour nap in the morning and afternoon. She has her last bottle at 9 or 10pm and then is down for the night (no fussing at all!) Not too bad. She still isn't a big fan of "tummy time" and hasn't shown signs of rolling over yet - but we know that's coming soon. Also, we can feel teeth buds in her gums - but none have broken the gums yet.

Mostly - she's just a happy baby and loves to smile and coo when she sees her family. We are blessed indeed!
