Starting to slow down

Week 20, day 1

We saw Doctor Sharon today. All seems to be progressing well with the babies. Little Boy A was sleeping, with a heartbeat of 152bpm. Little Girl B was being her usual wiggling self, and her heartbeat was 163bpm.

The doctor is pleased that they are close in weight (within 5% of each other). After measuring my tummy, it's now measuring 27 inches (which would typically be 27 weeks if it was just one baby). Given that it's twins - again - the doc seemed pleased.

Overall - I'm doing ok, but slowing down a bit and have a few more aches and pains...all par for the course.

Looking forward to seeing everyone later this week at Amelia.

We're 7 to 8 inches long and wiggling!

18 weeks and 3 days

We went to the doctor's today and had a chance to have a detailed "anatomical scan" of the twins. This was a detailed scan looking for any potential issues. For example, they measured the babies' head, brain, eye lens, stomach, bladder, kidney, heart (4 chambers), bone length, etc. Just amazing what the Tech can see on what to us looks like a blurry screen. Any way - the babies are doing great and appear to be on track.

The little boy (twin A) is now 100% confirmed a boy and was feet down and facing up to my tummy. He kept yawning during the ultrasound, and he had his hands up around by his eyes/ears.

The little girl (twin B) was head down, but facing my back (harder to see her face today). She even had her little ankles crossed. True to form and previous scans, she kept wriggling the whole time, and also had hiccups during a good bit of the scan.

So cute to see so much so early. We estimate that they are probably 7 to 8 inches long, and the boy is estimated to weigh 9 oz, and the girl weighs approx 8 oz. They've doubled in weight in 4 weeks. And as I remind Hugh, "you ain't seen nothing yet."

Anyway - thanks for everyone's support and prayers. See you in a few weeks at Amelia.

Doctor's Appointment - week 17, day 1

We went to the OB today. It's the first appointment since March that we didn't have an ultrasound. Disappointing - but I guess it's more normal than not.

Anyway, the babies appear to be doing great. With the dopplar, we could hear their heartbeats at 152 and 155 bmp.

Doctor Sharon asked if I had felt the babies yet. It's all pretty new to me, so I said I wasn't sure, but I had felt a slight flutter in my lower abdomen. His response, "well it's probably a baby then." Nice to know he went to medical school for that affirmation!
